How to be a happier lawyer: Strive for excellence/excellent work, not perfection.

If perfection is the outcome, then that's super. But when people drive toward perfection, their focus becomes distorted and over time quality and quantity of work product decreases.

I think that you started to make a good point, but it would be interesting to hear more about your perspective. Sometimes it can be good to aim for the highest quality possible while understanding our limitations and not getting bogged down just because we miss the mark. In what ways do you think striving for excellence is different from striving for perfection? I agree that there is a difference but I would really like to hear your thoughts on defining those actual differences.
